The 9-11 Memorial 5K Run is happening this year at Bittersweet Park in Greeley Colorado on September 1, 2018. The 5K will begin at 9 am MDT. Greeley’s American Legion Post 18 is sponsoring this event. Our Greeley dermatology clinic is proud to be a part of this 5k as a donor.
The Purpose of the 9-11 Memorial 5K
While those of us who saw that day have all been changed in some way by the tragic events of September 11, 2001, there are those who have been very directly affected, whose lives are drastically different as a result.
No matter how many years separate us from that event, many still today are facing a life without loved ones. There are those whose family members, friends, or coworkers were killed in the terrorist attacks. We think of the first responders and others who sacrificed their own lives to save others. And we cannot forget all the military personnel who risked their safety to fight against terrorism and keep our homeland secure.
The goal of this 5k is to bring healing to those who have been directly affected, particularly the veterans who fought for our safety. This run is going to help assist military personnel who consequently have been suffering from TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
